Warren

Located on the banks of the Macquarie River, Warren is Australia's Wool and Cotton Capital.

It is in central northern New South Wales a bit over an hour from Dubbo. 

Things to do:

• Tour of Warren - This tour begins at the Warren Tourist Information Centre and includes many historic buildings and natural attractions.

• Tiger Bay Wildlife Refuge - Just 200 m from Macquarie Valley Motor Inn, the Tiger Bay Wildlife Refuge is a mini wetland which is host to an abundant variety of birdlife and plantlife.  A hide, combined with a network of walking trails facilitates viewing of most areas.

• Warren Museum and Art Gallery - Open Wed - Sun, this modern museum and gallery is situated in a beautifully restored building in the main street of Warren. Visit www.thewam.com.au for up to date information.

• River Red Gum Walk - The walk follows the curve of the Macquarie River through established parkland, providing both historical and botanical interest. The park also contains a monument honouring John Oxley and Charles Sturt, who traced the Macquarie river early in the 19th century.

• Fishing on the Macquarie River - with abundant sites for camping, boating and canoeing.
